In the Gymkhana grid videos and pictures I posted recently you may have seen a very 80′s/90′s looking AE86 Corolla with a livery that looked like the Saved by the Bell opening credits, it was pretty hard to miss…
The car eventually came second in the RWD class and it belongs to Formula D driver John Russakoff, who seems to be a bit of an old skool legend. Not only does he compete in Formula D in an old corolla but he manages to be competitive he doesn’t even do it full time! He runs a fabrication shop called JSP Fab and just turns up at Formula D events that are local or an easyish drive and competes.
He has two AE86′s that he runs, one as a daily and one as his drfit car, both have Honda S2000 (F20c) engines with the drifter having a turbo stuck on it as well.
The daily is this car that started out like this
And now looks like this…
But what’s this matching car next to it here?
It looks like the Drift car has been painted to match! It used to look a bit more blue
But it needed some new decals for this year and a black base was needed for this….
Just brilliantly OTT and garish!
To prove he can drive damn well, check out the 2010 promo vid for him
And just because it is such an awesome picture I’ll stick this on the end as well, tyre shredding FTW!
Woke up to see more snow that I have ever seen in Exeter. Facebook and Twitter going mad for days off and playing in the snow, I walked to work and had no excuses not to come in. GUTTED!
On my walk to work everyone was just walking in the middle of the road where a few 4×4′s and vans had gone past and turfed up the snow a bit, this was only about half way into my journey though where I got to main roads, the smaller roads near my house haven’t been touched by any vehicles at all!
On the main road I saw a couple of vans and one car struggle past but there were a fair few 4×4′s having some fun. Times like this make me wish I had something massively jacked up and four wheel drive or alternatively I could just have something like this…

This part of the Mooneyes Xmas Party blog posts isn’t necessarily about the cars but it is about the people and the atmosphere of the event. Everyone seems to go full on in the rodding scene with everyone dressing in full 50′s style and living the whole lifestyle and it makes for an awesome look and atmosphere at shows. As I was looking through all the show photos the one thing that kept standing out for me was how much fun the event looked so I thought I would show off the non car part of the event a bit more!
You can find the cars at the event in Part 1 and Part 2.
Pictures from Speedhunters and Motormavens. All non watermarked pics from Mooneyes1 on Flickr and all the photos say Mooneyes Xmas party 2010 but for some reason they seem to say they were uploaded in July so whether this is the same event or not I have no idea!

More pictures from the Mooneyes Xmas Party at Irwindale. I can’t believe these pictures have been taken in December! As much as I liked the bit of snow this morning, I would easily prefer all year round sunshine…
For the rest of the pictures hit up Part 1 and Part 3

Irwindale Speedway in Cali seems to be the best place in the automotive world at the moment, first off it is Cali so its sunny all the fuckin’ time, they hold Formula D events, Ken Block held his Gymkhana event their and Mooneyes puts on one hell of a Xmas show!
I’m just going to do a massive pic dump and spread it over a few posts because there’s just too much awesomes to fit into one! Enjoy the mix of sleds, lowriders, rods and gassers and loads more.
Look here for part 2 and part 3

You know that anyone drifting something retro or old skool is going to be a huge winner in my book and a new post on OMG Drift introducing a new Finnish writer has included some pictures of his mates drift cars. They do indeed win big!
They drift big style in Mk2 Escorts (with an Audi 5 cylinder turbo!)
And a ’78 Chevy Camaro Z28!

I’ve just watched the newest Fast and Furious trailer and it looks hilariously ridiculous! It’s going to be called Fast Five and it has loads of the old characters from all four of the previous films as well as…. The Rock! YES!
It looks stupid and will probably be a bit terrible but I am definitely going to be watching it, it will have awesome car chase scenes and again did I mention it has The Rock in it?
Check it
