My first ever post on this here site was titled ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles‘ and even though I might be going a bit off topic here I just got sent this clip from the film (which contains quite a bit of sweary sweary) so I had to put it up.

If you haven’t seen the film this is the bit where Steve Martin‘s character has just got back to the airports car hire depot after being told to collect his car from a huge car park outside. Well after looking for a long time and getting into all sorts of comical situations its transpires that the car is not actually there and this is what he does when he gets back to the car hire depot and see’s the same woman who served him before… I feel we have all felt this frustrated at some point in our lives.

Anyway enough of this, back to cars!!!!!!1!!!!!111!1!! Oh yeah and go buy the film it’s ace!

Seriously I Love Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Now this is really rather odd and I don’t know if it is purely coincidence or inspiration but do you remember a post I did back in february called ‘Vans And The Places Where They Were‘ about a guy called Joe Stevens who had taken pictures of various awesome retro vans whilst out on his travels since 1996? Ring any bells? No? Well go and read it then fool!

Anyway his site is here and it has an awful side scrolling bit to it. Now guess what I came across today… Another site with the exact same template! This might not sound too weird because lots of sites use the same basic layouts but the thing is this site has side to side pictures of… wait for it… old skool vans!

Only this time the vans are a series of paintings done by an artist called Kevin Cyr and I can’t quite tell who did what project first but im inclined to say that Kevin Cyr looks like he has done paintings of Joe Stevens project. The paintings are very cool though and are of gratified up old American vans, so no matter who did what and how weird it is they have the same site, it is definitely worth giving him a visit at Kevincyr.net

This is my favourite though, massive tyres, portholes and graffiti that makes it look like it comes from a bad neighbourhood make it look suitably bad ass!

If anyone knows anything about either of the projects or if they are indeed related in some way let me know!

911 GT2 RS: Awe

So Porsche have apparently released a new 911 GT2 and added an RS to the end of it, which everyone knows makes cars way cooler. I’m a massive fan of old Porsches and I think the new ones do sound lovely but well can anybody really tell the difference between any 911 released in the last 15 years? they just seem to have different spoilers and paint jobs every now and again.

However one thing they can do is make some pretty awesome looking adverts and upload them for us all to watch on the official Porsche YouTube page. Isn’t that lovely of them. This video makes it look like they even have a sense of humour! Who wudda thunk it!

Do you ever sit at home and look outside your window at your 663bhp Mercedes SL65 AMG Black and think to yourself, ‘man I wish it was faster…’

If you said yes then you are a very rich and very mental human being but thankfully Brabus have answered your dreams and have made the super special edition Brabus T65 RS  Vanish version that boasts 788 bhp and a climate change inducing 1047lb ft of torque. With torque like that you wont just be melting tyres you will be melting the earth and spinning it backwards, the eco lot and climate change activists will probably have a fit if they saw this chewing up tyres on the street.

Even with the electronically limited torque figure of 811 lb ft the Brabus will do 0 – 124mpg in 9.8 seconds and carry on to a face ripping 206mph!

Needs wider wheels...

Now when I said super special edition earlier I really did mean it because this is actually a one off made for a very dedicated Brabus customer who seems to not have any concept of speed. The lucky, lucky man.

If you are like me then you have always wanted one of the awesome car sofas you can get that looks like the back of a Cadillac or something similar, you know the ones like this…

Well why do people always stop at some fancy sofas? sure you can ones that look like Boyd Coddington designed it himself

But why not go back to your childhood when you had a race car bed and stick the front of a whopping great big Merc on the end of your king size! All you need to do is fit a steering wheel for the ultimate ‘girl will never get in this’ bed.

But by far the coolest thing you can get is definitely a whole room dedicated to a specific car with all of the furniture being made from different car bits.  You of course get the sofa made out of the rear of a car, but you also get the coolest furniture that anyone you know will have, with an engine table, hub cap clock, a coffee table made from pistons, camshafts and a steering wheel and of course the whole grille and front of the car as a piece of art on the wall! A company called Passion mobiles will make your living room for you for a pretty hefty sum but it does look awesome. My two favourites are the Alfa Romeo or BMW 2002 bits of furniture. (The website is terrible btw, none of the buttons seem to work!)

Those Irish people over in Ireland seem to be buying all of the Escorts and then flinging them around the roads like complete madmen, breaking them and then buying more and repeating the process. Prices of Escorts are ridiculously high at the moment and I should be annoyed but then I remember why all the Irish are buying them…

Escorts from about half way through on this video.

They are awesome to rally and Ireland has some pretty amazing rallying stages and rally scenes. I think one day a road trip is in order to watch some of this amazing rallying. Of course driving over in our own cars would be pointless so the plan would be hop on a little plane and land in the capital, enjoy a boozy night at the Guinness brewery and surrounding public houses and then jump into a hire car in Dublin and drive up to the nearest rally stage. Watch the rallying for as long as it is going on and then find a lovely looking MK2 Escort and say to the owner ‘I would like this Escort please’, give him some gold coins for his car and then dump the hire car back to the depot and drive my nice new (old) Escort onto a boat headed for England.

Sounds simple enough and the Euro is still less than the pound at the moment so it would be a bit cheaper than trying to find one over here and I get a boozy, rally watching short holiday at the same time. Win!

Just Some Capris

I lowered my car quite a bit last week. So to celebrate my excitement have some random Capri’s that are from my file marked ‘OMG LUSH AWESOME YEAH!!!1!1!!’

Any donations to the file are always appreciated so link me to the best Capri picture you have ever seen in the comments! Go on do it. Go on. Do it.

This is probably the lowest road going Capri around. I aim to beat this but to be honest I have no idea how he has actually managed to get this low. The owner says its just on springs, so they must be tiny!

Once I have my new wheels on and I have the back down (I’m sporting awesome 70′s style rake at the moment) then I will have to see just how much lower I can go.
