Remember a while back I posted about Audi’s attempts to help control the effects of global climate change with their version of the electric supercar? Well it would seem the quite beautiful and awesome R8 based concept, the Audi E-Tron, is not quite as good as most people thought. Especially in France!

Now available in brown
You see the team who made that futuristic name up didn’t do a check on how well that word translates. Unfortunately for Audi in France they have just named a clean and green car the Audi Turd! It isn’t quite the same spelling because the French word is étron but spoken they are the same and the marketing men must be having a hard time trying to think of how to make this cool again in France.
This isn’t the first time this has happened though the Nova was sold in Latin America and the word ‘Nova’ in Spanish translates roughly to ‘doesn’t go’. Not really the ideal name for a car…
Check out the Mitsubishi Pajero for Spain, the Buick Lacrosse in French-Canadian and the Ford Pinto in Brazilian and you can see why it is probably a good idea to triple check these things!
Talking of the E-Tron have you seen the new second version they released way back in January? I missed it then and only just seen the changes they made and I have to say I am liking them a lot! The new version is smaller than the Audi TT and 250kg less than the original design, with a 201bhp and 1954lb ft electrical kick in the backside that will spin the rear wheels up and hit 60mph in 5.9 seconds (yes its also rwd now and not 4wd!) It also looks much more like an actual car now and Audi reckon you will get a 155 mile range and it can charge in 2 hours if you have a 400v power supply. Not bad really for a car designed to keep the climate change and save the planet people happy!
So who’s going to buy one when they are available and be the first to have an electric drifter?
