Bloodbath Part 1

Just because I realised this isn’t actually on here and well, it really should be. This picture might give a hint as to why…

I’d say they had some fun.

So Big Si on SWdubs has recently finished his Skyline drift car, I have some footage of his first outing in it below.

Remember the video from Icon Motosports where they put a bike against a car in a little drift battle? Well they’ve upped the stakes and tried it again…

It’s been a while since I’ve put up any videos from Formula D, I think I got a bit bored of all the terrible music laid over them every time – tip for anyone making a film, engines sound much better than dubstep. Luckily Tandem Of Die know this and just put up their Irwindale teaser; it is just 2 minutes of glorious noise and smoke. I’m looking forward to the full DVD because all the teasers have been pretty spot on.

mallory park awesomefest 500x175 More Awesomefest Footage

Another video from Awesomefest has been put up and this one actually has some footage of the Mk2 Escort and some of the other retros that were there drifting so that automatically makes it much cooler than all the others I have seen. Plus for once it has a half decent soundtrack and isn’t cheesy dance music or fucking awful dubstep shit.  Can’t go wrong with J5 and Dilated Peoples to be honest.

Anyway check it out, the last shot is one long ass corner!

The first ever Driftworks Awesomefest was held last weekend at Mallory Park and it looked absolutely awesome, a nice mix of drifting, cars and some other types of ‘extreme’ sport like BMX, Moto X and erm beard growing. Luckily for me and anyone else who was not there, plenty of blogs including Speedhunters and OMGDrift captured the event, as well as ace video maker man Stephen Brooks (Drifting the Gauntlet and The Battle Begins) who has this video for us to watch. (Although I hate the music chosen…)

Mustang emerging from garage 500x278 Drifting In The K.S.A.

Pro Drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr took a trip out to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia recently as a guest of the Middle East division of his main sponsor Ford. He and his black, white and green Monster Ford Mustang were flown to Riyadh where he did a demo at the Action Ha race weekend held at the Al Reem Circuit. After the demo and the meet and greet Gittin Jr found out just how much the Middle East loves racing and drifting when they gave him complete access to drift around the entire race circuit and surrounding areas. That includes car parks, garages, connecting roads and the race track! This is what the 2010 Formula D champion had to say about his trip:

Earlier this year, I had the pleasure to visit Riyadh in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a guest of Ford Middle East to perform in a demo as part of the Action Ha race weekend at of Al Reem Circuit. I didn’t know exactly what to expect heading to the Middle East, but I’m always down for new experiences and adventures. Once I arrived I was completely blown away by the love of motorsports, and even more specifically, the love for drifting by the locals. Everyone I met, from Princes, to other professional drivers, to swarms of fans, treated me with amazing hospitality and kindness. It was an incredible experience that I will never forget and I look forward to coming back to the K.S.A!

After the event I stayed a couple days extra to film ‘Drifting in the K.S.A’. Thanks to the kindness of the entire Al Reem Circuit team, they let me get crazy throughout the entire motorsports complex. Nothing was off-limits and I had a blast linking one track to the next through the parking lots and garages and into storage areas basically doing whatever came to mind that would be fun and challenging. Aside from drifting the entire complex, one of my most memorable parts of the whole trip was after we finished shooting and we were hot, dusty, and dead-tired, we ended up putting on a impromptu drift-day with some of the locals that came to spectate the shoot. I was teaching them how to drift, change tires, different driving techniques, and they were so pumped up. While there were no pro’s to show us the ropes back in the day, it reminded me of when I first started; that smile that stays when you link your first drift and the genuine passion to get better and conquer the challenges. I had a blast hanging out and enjoying what drifting is all about!

- Vaughn Gittin Jr.

How much would you love to have access to all that space just to mess around with in a car?! Mega jealous right now.

Anyway watch the vid he recorded while messing around all over the track and surrounding complex. Make sure you take all that gorgeous V8 sound in!

gatebil hot rod drifting 500x333 Tandem Of Die At Gatebil

Gatebil is by all accounts an absolutely ridiculous weekend of big power cars tearing it up on a pretty open and relaxed track and I can’t wait to see more and more videos getting posted up soon but for now we will ahve to make do with another Tandem of Die teaser. Turn up your speakers and listen to the glorious sounds of engines hitting limiters and tyres getting shredded!

Check out more Gatebil pictures and write ups on Speedhunters
