The first round of the 2011 Formula D season has been and gone in sunny Long Beach and it seems the big changes over winter for the drivers have created some new heroes. The big news for most people seems to have been where will the fun loving Mr Matt Powers be placing now he has ditched the Jap turbo and gone LS V8 powered?
Well…

First round of the season and he has managed to get himself a podium place in what everyone agrees was a very close final battle with Team Falken Mustang driver Justin Pawlak. The flak he has been getting for changing his car looks to be completely worth it now he is a top running competitor.
This is a very cool in car video of him putting in some seriously good runs.
And just to show that Matt Powers definitely hasn’t become a corporate machine, this is how he acts on the podium… Wet Willy! (Click the pic…it’s a GIF)
Another big surprise was probably the absence of 2010 champion Vaughn Gittin Jr who failed to even qualify for the top 32, expect big things from him next round as he tries to prove himself and get back on top.
Ace drift lensman Justin Shreeve has also got together with Joe Ayala to create Tandem Of Die, which should be a project to look out for during the season, the videos should be epic if they are all as good as this teaser!
