Back before Matt Powers managed to get a whole load of sponsors and tiger striped his famous S14 in the mental green and black Need For Speed livery he was driving it with a silly low ride height, zero sponsors and a rockstar attitude. This is not to say he has changed his ethic in anyway, he is still one off the coolest and most fun drifters on the Pro circuit but there is just something about someone taking a relatively old and slow car with no sponsors, scene hero ride height and fitment and then placing a top four in the last round of the Formula D championships. Just plain epic stuff tbh.

This year has been his first full Formula D championship, with his sponsors Need For Speed and Nitto Tyres (sorry tires) allowing him to do every event. Last year though, he could only compete in the events he could easily get to and afford to do. It was his first year in Pro after getting his licence from the Pro-Am events in 2008, he was still in university and just about to graduate and he still managed to be surprisingly competitive and what’ s more people started falling in love with the guy and his style.

What’s not to love about the guys style though, he pretty much does everything himself with a couple mates who call themselves Mattley Crue and he brings a lot of California surfer charm to a league full of ‘serious’ drivers.

Anyway enough of my bro love for Matt Powers, just look at the awesome pictures of the only S14 I’ve ever really liked…
