Mike Burroughs – Scene Legend?

Where to start with Mike Burroughs? He has, whether you like it or not, become one of the biggest Internet car guys of recent years. His E28 BMW has been posted on thousands of forums, blogs and car sites and it keeps being re-invented into something even more ridiculous that seems to bring out some pretty extreme reactions from the car community. He has a loyal following who love everything he does to the point that he could do anything (and he quite often does) and they would still love it. Equally he has an insane amount of haters who will automatically hate anything that comes out of camp Burroughs.

Things started off simple...

Apart from his BMW’s (he also has a less visually crazy E36 with an S54 engine that has some impressive throttle body trumpets) Burroughs is a very, very good photographer and helps to run Stanceworks, which along with sites like Hellaflush are a new breed of ultra hip and scene sites that care about stance and lows more than anything else in the world.

The stance bug got to him

Things started getting a bit more 'scene'

Then this happened...

However their are a lot of really good photographers who run their own site so why does Mr Burroughs manage to create such intense love and hate against him? It seems to come down to a mixture of going completely over the top with his E28 and an almost corporate style of branding and marketing of himself.

He then got this as a replacement

But the E28 was not dead and it was resurrected as 'Rusty'

After a while it got oiled up and got some teeth

Whatever your view on Mike Burroughs and the whole ‘stance’ scene there is no denying that the boy takes some absolutely stunning pictures.

It has now been roof chopped in its most extreme version yet

It really is a love it or hate it car

Still he does have another less extreme BMW

And his photography is amazing!
